Mission Established in 1998, City Policy Associates, L.L.C. is a Washington-based public policy, public affairs and government relations organization offering clients knowledge and experience in a wide range of issues affecting local governments and the people they serve. It provides local governments with representation in Washington and assists them with resource development, communications and other special projects; it also assists public and private agencies and organizations at the national level in their analysis of local government issues and in their relations with local governments. The firm offers local officials the advantage of established relationships with federal agencies, national organizations and the news media; it offers executives at the national level the advantage of established working relationships with local elected officials and key staff. City Policy Associates combines skills and experience developed over three decades in Washington providing advocacy, research, public affairs and communications services to local governments and their leaders. The founding partners, Michael W. Brown and Laura DeKoven Waxman, also have direct experience in state and local government agencies, research and development, and management consulting. In recent years their work has covered public safety, homeland security, drug control, human services, education, employment and training, income security and welfare reform, food and nutrition, community and economic development, housing and homelessness, community- and faith-based initiatives, federalism, and other issues of concern to local government leaders.
